New Executive Director for Wilson Commencement Park
As of February 9 th Wilson Commencement Park is under new leadership. The Board of Directors has appointed Rochester native, Rodric Cox-Cooper to lead Wilson Commencement Park (WCP) through today’s challenging economic times. Rodric comes to WCP with over 15 years of experience in public service, most of it with the City of Rochester where he served under Mayor William Johnson in various management positions. He is an optimistic, focused leader with strengths in bringing diverse groups together and delivering outcomes which meet the needs of all parties. He is a straightforward, resilient collaborator, who achieves results with immediate and long-term impact, and customer benefit.
Rodric is the 2003 recipient of the Dr. Samuel McCree, Jr. Award, for his efforts to improve the quality of life in the city. He was also recognized in 2000 as one of the Rochester Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award recipients. Rodric holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Dayton, and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
Wilson Commencement Park is a non-profit organization opened in 1991 to help low-income, single parent families achieve economic stability. WCP’s mission is to help families who are struggling to overcome the effects of homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse and chronic unemployment to realize their dreams of economic self-sufficiency and family stability. The Early Learning Center at Wilson Commencement Park is one of the first early childhood programs to earn re-accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) – the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals.
