Communiversity Class Descriptions
MCC’s VWEP – From Welfare to Work | Instructor: Beatriz Lebron
Ever think about going back to school, but are not sure how to? Feeling like you're facing too many obstacles in getting there? That you’re getting different answers from different DHS workers, and are not sure what is accurate? Who is eligible? How you can start the process? What happens when you do enroll? Could class credits be counted towards your WEP requirements? If you ever thought about attending college and currently have an open DHS case, then this class is for you! Learn how to get started and complete a degree at MCC with the support of DHS and MCC's V-WEP program.
Action For A Better Community Action Front Program | Instructor: Duncan
This session is for those who participated in the HIV Testing 3 months ago to get retested. If you have not been tested you may attend this session as well.
Mens Group | Facilitators: Richard Worden and Gregory Torbitt
Support group for men where the focus is on sharing the common struggles that we as men experience on a daily basis. We provide a safe and confidential setting to be heard, understood, and by giving voice to those aspects of our lives that we are struggling with on a daily basis. We can release and move past them to a life with more clarity and joy for the other relationships and ourselves in our lives.
Women’s Group | Facilitators: Marge Kreiss and Wanda Acevedo
Support group for women where the focus is on sharing the common struggles that we as women experience on a daily basis. A safe and confidential setting is provided to be heard, understood, and by giving voice to those aspects of our lives that we are struggling with on a daily basis. We can release and move past them to a life with more clarity and joy for the other relationships and ourselves in our lives.
LDA Rights of Parents
What Are Your Rights, as a Parent, in the Special Education Process? Public Law 105-17, the individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Amendments of 1997, enhances the rights of children with disabilities and their parents. It builds on the rights provided under Public Law 94-142, the Education for All Handicapped Children Act, of 1975. A fundamental provision of these laws is the right of parents to participate in the educational decision-making process.
