Wilson Commencement Park parents want what all parents want: financial independence, marketable skills, a living wage, a fulfilling job, a comfortable home, a safe neighborhood with good schools, and a bright future for their children. But their road to self-sufficiency and independence from welfare is filled with obstacles. Some parents have left abusive homes. Some have lost a mate's earning power through desertion, death, or divorce and are in financial difficulty. Some have lost a job and need to retrain or change careers. Some have a child who needs special attention. Some are in recovery from substance abuse. Some have been incarcerated. Some have physical or mental health issues.

While families are putting their lives in order, WCP provides an attractive, affordable, gated community in which to live for up to two years and provides programs and services that help them to develop the assets that will foster their economically independence and family stability.
